Holidays and what holidaymakers do while on holiday comes in many guises, and a host of small travel companies have sprung up in recent years to cater for niche travel markets.

Some holidaymakers prefer the relaxation of the beach, while others are increasingly looking for something a bit more exciting or physically demanding. When most people think Majorca, they think beautiful, white beaches. Beautiful beaches and crystal blue waters aren't all Majorca has to offer. In fact, the island has something to offer nearly everyone.

Majorca is one of the most popular family holiday destinations in the world. Mediterranean people love to indulge children of all ages. In fact, the servers at even the most upscale restaurant are likely to offer to cuddle your unruly toddler to give you a moment's peace to enjoy your meal - quite disconcerting for the avaerage over protective British tourist!

Many of Majorca's beaches are well-geared for families with small children. They offer great features like safe, shallow water for little ones to really enjoy their beach time. Many theme parks and water attractions have family activities, including miniature golf and pony rides. Several resorts and hotels offer babysitting services and programmes specifically designed for children.

Holiday packages to Majorca are often all-inclusive. Resorts and agencies often offer packages for honeymooners, babymooners, beach lovers and tourists of all sorts. Some of Majorca's most popular holiday packages include scuba diving, boating and relaxing on the beach. The more physically demanding vacation packages are becoming more popular year by year.

Cycling holidays for example have risen drastically over the last few years. This increase is expected to continue to increase by at least 10 percent over the next two to three years. Last year, in 2007, more than 87,000 cyclists enjoyed a cycling holiday in Majorca.

Cycling is quickly becoming a favorite activity for tourists around the world. Tourism authorities in Majorca understand this and have worked relentlessly on new bike routes and facilities over the past 10 years. Their hard work and dedication has been paying off. Currently the island boasts an astounding 260 km of cycling routes. They will continue to improve upon one of the most quickly growing activities on the island as more cyclists decide to take flights to Majorca

Cycling offers a very unique tour of the island. Some hotels and local businesses offer guided tours and bike rentals. Many other bike-friendly facilities offer bike maintenance and secure storage. Utilising the freedom of travel a bicycle offers, tourists often get to experience parts of the island that most do not see. Many bike paths wind their way through the mountains and hills, allowing a very natural view of the island's flora and fauna.

Water sports and golf are also very popular in Majorca. Some local businesses offer dive or boat tours and diving lessons. Diving in the Mediterranean Sea is an experience like no other. Some species of tropical fish and marine life exist only in this temperate climate. Crystal clear waters offer a great viewing distance. Local businesses also offer boat and water craft rentals for those who wish to explore the open sea on their own.

The Balearic Islands are located almost directly south of Barcelona, Spain. Also known as Mallorca, Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands. Majorca is located in the Mediterranean Sea between eastern Spain and northern Africa. Due to the location, Majorca enjoys an impressive 300 days of sunshine per year. Because of its location and ability to provide a quick getaway, Majorca has been a popular tourist destination since the 1950's. Many major hotel chains and resorts have ties to Majorca because of the massive numbers of tourists per year, although 2008 did see more of a shift to other destinations such as Turkey and Egypt where holidays can be less expensive, although often taking a little longer on a flight.
